We are making disability pride visible.

Ableism is bias about a disabled person’s worth, like racism or sexism.

It shapes how disability is understood, how our systems are designed and, sometimes, how disabled people learn to see ourselves.

Internalised ableism occurs when we are so heavily influenced by stereotypes, misconceptions and discrimination about disability that we start to believe disability makes us inferior.

We think one of the ways to challenge that is disability pride.

Disability pride deserves to be visible.

Disabled people have culture, history, community and a Disability Pride flag. But most people have never seen it.

You can walk into a shop and find flags, pins, shirts and stickers celebrating all kinds of identities and communities. Disability pride? Not so much.

We wanted to change that.

Cure Ableism creates things that make disability pride more visible. Things you can wear, stick on your laptop, hang in your home, give to someone you love or use to quietly spot another member of the community across a room.

Because visibility helps us find each other.

And because disability isn't something that only deserves awareness.

It deserves pride.

Sometimes that pride comes with a touch of disability rage, too.
